Terence Tam

Terence is a Sr. Mechanical Engineer with over 15 years of experience in various industries and two successful Kickstarter hardware campaigns under his belt.

One of Terence’s specialties is in early concept design and rapid prototyping of “work like” and “feel like” prototypes, using SolidWorks design software in conjunction with hand tools, machine tools, 3D printers, laser cutters, and development boards such as Raspberry Pi and Arduino. Terence’s recent projects include the Glowforge Air Filter, the Kossel Pro 3D printer, an onstage incubator for live cell observation on a microscope, and various fluorescence microscopes – including one that made a cameo in Jurassic World. He holds a Bachelors in Chemistry from the University of Washington.

Terence’s top priority outside of work is spending time with his two young sons. Terence and his wife are both avid travelers, and his other hobbies include photography, cooking, molecular gastronomy and downhill biking.
