Title: Wireless Network Engineer
Duration: Project – Long-Term Vendor
Location: Redmond, WA
Benefits: Employee benefits at 100% including Medical, PTO, Holiday Pay, 401K Plan and much more!
Hours: Minimum 40 Hours/Week

Role:
• Analyze wireless network requirements (including but not limited to UE-Network protocols, Mobile Core Network Protocol Requirements, and application-level performance requirements) based on product requirements and use cases over Wireless accesses.
• Design and specify the wireless network architecture, protocol and procedure fitting the future VR/AR use cases with stringent functional, quality, performance, footprint and power requirements.
• Set network performance KPIs and drive the network architecture with other cross-functional teams achieving product performance optimization.
• Interface and collaborate with wireless system engineers to ensure network QoS optimization features, such as high priority QoS classes for AR/VR, network slicing, MEC, QoS management control signaling architecture, and longer-term technology roadmaps, are aligned and implemented as per our spec.
• Interface and collaborate with the Infra XFN teams to drive the infra-architecture optimization and improvements, such as reducing latency/jitter within Infra, connecting the infra more deeply into CSP network edges where we compute can be closer to the end users.
• Interface and collaboration with the Connectivity XFN teams and RL cellular ecosystem teams to lead various network technology trials within CSP networks, including defining trial scopes, trial network topologies, trial test plans and test methodologies, trial network KPIs to be monitored and collected, and providing comprehensive statistical analysis on collected network KPIs to derive insights and drive future network architecture directions.
• Research new technologies and analyze competitive technologies, design new algorithms/protocols and specify solution options to solve complicated problems for future AR/VR products.
• Analyze CSP network performance issues and drive solutions to fundamentally improve the CSP networks to reduce latency for AR/VR applications, in collaboration with MCx, cellular ecosystem teams and CSPs.
• Analyze standards gaps in supporting AR/VR use cases over the current wireless network architecture. And then lead IP developments and drive solutions into respective standards organizations, in collaboration with RL wireless standards teams.

Skills:
• 5+ years of wireless network engineering experience in network protocol modeling and design, network performance analysis, data analytics, wireless network architecture design, and some experience in radio performances and wireless lab testing.
• Knowledge of network technologies and standards (including 5G-NR, LTE, IETF transport standards (e.g., QUIC, TCP, SCTP, UDP, etc.), IP networking, 802.11 Wi-Fi QoS standards) and their implications on future AR/VR use cases.
• System performance debugging experience, analytical and problem-solving experience.
• Experience leading technical initiatives across a cross-functional organization.
• Good Communication skills across to the XFN teams and upwards to the senior management teams.
• Experience in Mobile Network Operators’ network deployment architecture and cable ISPs’ network deployment architecture would be a plus.
• Experience in mobile network and cable ISP network performance modeling and analytics would be a plus.

Education: MS or Ph. D. in Telecommunications or Electrical or Computer engineering.
