What we need:
In this role, you will combine your passion and enthusiasm for robotics, cloud technology, open-source software and hardware technologies. You will work alongside Fresh customers and partners to build robotics solutions, identify industry wide technical trends and help guide strategic technical decision making for Fresh robotics products.
In our Emerging Robotics Practice, you will also have the opportunity to create white papers, blogs, build demos and other reusable collateral that can be used by our customers. You will work closely with our Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Cloud and Service Engineering teams as well as our Data Scientists and IoT experts to build robotics solutions. As a member of the robotics team, you are responsible for maintaining context and working knowledge of technology used throughout the sector, developing novel solutions and translating those designs into reality. You are responsible for the developing and maintaining the interfaces between disconnected components and acting as the glue to pull together a solution.
You should have strong interest in developing competency in robotics engineering, robot simulation, Robotic Operation System and Software development on cloud and edge. This role is designed for those who have recently graduated with a bachelors or masters with less than three years of experience, or equivalent. In this role you will have the opportunity to pick core technologies to go deep and learn, fail and learn some more. Maybe you’re new to ROS, but an experienced software developer, or you’re just starting out in the industry – we’ll help you develop a path to add immediate client value and for you to learn your strengths within robotics.

  • Develop software services, interfaces, drivers and systems for robotic, IoT and automation applications
  • Research and leverage existing control algorithms and methods within your work
  • Derive new control algorithms for new device designs and applications
  • Push the envelope – work fast to learn sooner and sprint for deadlines
  • Ensure that features and deliverables meet quality requirements across products 
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines in planning design and development of systems to ensure software and hardware performance and compatibility
  • This is a customer facing role. You will be required to travel to client locations to deliver professional services when needed

Required Qualifications:

  • MS degree in an engineering discipline or 1-2 years of relevant experience with a BS in computer science or ~5-6 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in C++ and Python programming
  • Understanding of Object Oriented Programming – interfaces, polymorphism, inheritance
  • Understanding of data structures, and design patterns
  • Highly-motivated team player with evidence of engineering excellence through prior project work
  • Strong communication skills
  • Desire to be part of a fast-moving, collaborative, environment with few rigid boundaries 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing robotics software to interface with sensors and actuators
  • Understanding of ROS
  • Working knowledge of Linux
  • Working on a FIRST robotics team either as a student or mentor
  • Experience with image processing, computer vision, machine learning and reinforcement learning
