What we need: 

We are looking for Mechanical Engineering Lead to join our growing team and be able to thrive while juggling multiple client projects and deadlines. This individual will partner with our internal team to translate client requirements into meaningful design intent. The ME Lead will help unblock and guide the team towards the best path to ensure project success. As the Mechanical Engineering lead, you are accountable for the quality, timeliness and cost of mechanical designs. You’ll split your time between individual contributions to attracting, growing and retaining talent. You will partner with other development teams to drive lessons learned into new product designs. You will conduct analysis of field failures to identify product mechanical and reliability risks. You will collaborate with internal teams and customers to prioritize opportunities for product improvement and drive corrective and preventative actions. You will develop processes, systems and tools to improve effectiveness of the Mechanical Engineering function.  

Responsibilities: 

  • As a team leader: 
    • Leads the Mechanical Engineering functional team within Fresh 
    • Attracts, retains and grows key talent 
    • Responsible for signoff within mechanical design reviews 
    • Guide the team to high quality design 
    • Review mathematical modeling of static and dynamic loading calculations 
    • Conduct trainings on ME design best practices and processes  
    • Ability to guarantee proper execution of mechanical processes and procedures across stakeholders 
  • As an individual contributor: 
    • Perform computational analysis of statics, dynamics, fluid, heat transfer and mechanics 
    • Lead highly complex designs and act as the technical anchor to deliver projects 
  • As both a lead and individual contributor: 
    • Support development and release schedules to meet dynamic mechanical goals 
    • Ensure that features and deliverables meet and exceed mechanical requirements across products 
    • Ensure BOM accuracy 
    • Execute mechanical plans and report on mechanical validation status 
    • Successfully manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders 
    • Support deviation requests through mechanical validation 
    • Support Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes 
    • Evaluate Customer Service and Support Issues (CSS Issues) requests via defect management 
    • Clearly communicate mechanical risks and issues, with options for resolution 
    • Drive resolution of mechanical issues 
    • Develop and implement mechanical standards to prevent and/ or mitigate future mechanical issues 
    • Ensure compliance across mechanical standards and governing bodies 
    • Measure mechanical performance using appropriate tools and techniques 
    • Create and maintain comprehensive mechanical documentation 

Basic Qualifications 

  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Computer Engineering 
  • 10+ years’ Hardware Mechanical Engineering experience 
  • 5+ years of robotics and mechanism design 
  • 5+ years’ Experience with mechanical tools and concepts including PLM, SolidWorks, Six Sigma, FMEA 
  • 4+ years’ Experience with Design for Manufacturability, Design for Reliability, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances, Measurement tooling and fixturing
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 
  • Experience putting together project quotes and proposals.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Teams, Azure DevOps, G-Suite 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • MS in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Computer Engineering 
  • Experience with ISO9000, IATF16949 or ISO13485 and mechanical systems auditing 
  • Proficiency with the design of automated manufacturing test stands 
  • Proficiency with the design and implementation of robotic chassis 
  • Proficiency with the design and implementation of gearboxes, robotic arms, pneumatics, hydraulics
