Summary of Role:
We are currently seeking a Payroll and HR Specialist to help support our internal services team. This role will report to Finance and HR as they navigate support for both departments via overlapping areas. This role will be out of our Bellevue HQs but supporting across the entire organization. 

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees through a third party vendor
  • Process manual payroll checks, direct deposit related transactions, check cancellations, check reissues 
  • Maintain payroll guidelines by creating and updating policies and procedures
  • Analyze, investigate, troubleshoot and resolve payroll data errors; inspect system output and standard reports
  • Comply with federal, multi-state and local payroll tax requirements and resolve any related issues in a timely manner
  • Provide outstanding customer service to a diverse and often remote workforce 
  • Prepare accounting entries to record payroll activity in the general ledger
  • Reconcile payroll general ledger accounts including staff benefit deductions
  • File Labor and Industries reports as required
  • Respond to payroll requests related to annual financials and 401k audits
  • Conduct benefit new hire orientation and assist all staff with general benefit inquiries
  • Assist Human Resources with annual open enrollment process 
  • Facilitate background and reference checks as required
  • Employment and mortgage verification 

 

Experience Requirements:

  • 3-5 years multi-state payroll experience with 300+ employees
  • ADP Workforce Now experience, preferred
  • Working knowledge of PPO, HRA, HSA, DFSA and 401k plans
  • 1 year benefits administration or HR experience
  • Desire to contribute in a team focused, rapidly growing, fast paced environment
  • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word and Excel including use of pivot tables and Vlook-ups required
  • Proficient in payroll processes, procedures and payroll tax compliance
  • Ability to identify and recommend process improvements
  • Ability to deal with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment required
  • Ability to understand and explain complex policies and procedures regarding employment taxes, retirement contributions, miscellaneous employee deductions, etc.
  • Preference to candidates who are fluent in Spanish or Thai
